A Buddy isn't doing what I expect
Diagnose: no drafts, wrong drafts, drafts stuck in inbox.
Most "Buddy isn't working" reports turn out to be a control-level setting or a missing trigger condition.
Step-by-step diagnosis
Check the skill's control level
Buddies → Roster → [Buddy] → [Skill]. If it's Off, the Buddy won't run. If it's Signal-only, you'll see flags but no drafts.
Check the trigger condition
Every skill has a trigger (a permit past 1.5× median, an inspection in next 3 days, etc.). If no projects meet the trigger, no drafts will appear. The skill page shows the trigger explicitly.
Check the activity feed
Buddies → Activity. Filter by the Buddy. If there are no entries, the Buddy hasn't run in your window — check the cron schedule on the skill page.
Check for suppression
If you suppressed a draft for that project recently, it won't re-surface until the timer expires (7 or 14 days depending on reason).
Common cases
"No PTO chase drafts even though I have installs with no PTO" — Cash needs status = "Completed" AND pto_date is null. Confirm your projects have the right status.
"Pip drafted a chase for a permit I already resolved offline" — Suppress with reason "approved offline". Pip will record the reason and not re-surface for 7 days.
"Sam's standup is empty" — Sam only includes commercial projects. If you're residential-only, set Sam's commercial-standup skill to Off and turn on pipeline-velocity instead.
