Control levels: Autopilot, Copilot, Signal-only, Off
Choose how each enabled Buddy skill behaves for your team.

Control levels are configured per skill. The skill catalog supplies the starting level and the levels that skill supports.
The four levels
| Level | What happens | When to use |
|---|---|---|
| Autopilot | A supported action can execute without waiting in the Inbox and then appears in Activity. Undo is available only when that action type is marked reversible. | Reviewed, narrow actions your team is ready to run automatically. |
| Copilot | The Buddy creates a proposal for a person to approve or reject in the Inbox. | Work that benefits from a human decision before execution. |
| Signal-only | The skill surfaces information without executing the proposed business action. | Judgment-heavy or informational workflows. |
| Off | The skill is paused for the team. | Skills the team does not want to run. |
Autopilot is not a blanket permission to send messages or bypass provider, compliance, team, or role controls. Irreversible actions remain irreversible even when a person approves them.

Open a Buddy to see the skills enabled for that team and each current control level.
Choose a supported level
Save the new level for the individual skill. Pending proposals remain pending; changing the level does not silently approve them.
A conservative rollout
- Begin judgment-heavy skills in Copilot or Signal-only.
- Review proposals and activity until the action shape and data quality are predictable for your team.
- Use Autopilot only for narrow supported actions whose failure and reversal behavior you understand.
- Keep external communications under their separate provider, permission, opt-out, and confirmation controls.
