Two-factor authentication

Two-factor authentication adds a second sign-in step. The available account-security options can vary, so follow the choices shown for your account.

Set up an authenticator app

   Open your account settings

   Open the Account menu and look for security or two-factor settings. If you do not see a two-factor option, it is not available in the settings shown for your account.

   Set up two-factor sign-in

   If the option is available, choose the authenticator-app method. Scan the displayed code with your authenticator app and enter the current code when prompted.

   Save recovery codes

   If recovery codes are provided, save them somewhere secure that you can access if you lose your phone. Do not share them with anyone.

   Confirm setup

   Follow the on-screen instructions to finish setup and check that the next sign-in asks for the extra code.

If you lose your authenticator

• Use a saved recovery code if the sign-in screen offers that option.
• After you regain access, review the account-security options shown in the Account menu.
• Never share your password, authenticator code, or recovery code.
